Do You Remember This Epic New Hampshire Indoor Water Park?

One of the only real downsides of living in New England is how short our summers are.  We really only have a few weeks of really warm weather.  So, if you love to go swimming in the lake, the river, or your backyard pool, you have a very short amount of time to enjoy it.

However, there are a few places in New England where you can have fun in the water all year long.  Spread across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, etc there are a few indoor water parks.

In most cases, these indoor parks offer nearly everything (sometimes more) that our outdoor water parks offer.  Pools, waterslides, splash zones, etc.  Except, because they are located inside, they can be used all year long.

Unless you are really big into snowmobiling, skiing, or ice fishing, can you think of a better way to spend February break?  Yeah, we didn't think so.

Sadly, one of the most memorable indoor water parks is no longer in business.

The 40,000 square foot Kahuna Laguna indoor water park was located inside the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort on "the strip" in North Conway, New Hampshire.

One of the highlights of the new defunct park was a three story tall water slide!  Your ride down the slide would end when you splashdown into an immense 43,000 gallon pool.  For those needing a break, there was a wave pool and a splash pad.  There was also the "Aquabrella", which was kind of like a waterfall the kids could play in.

Sadly, the place closed following a devastating fire that severely damaged the hotel.  The fire happened in April of 2022 and they have yet to start any kind of rebuilding process.

Of course, we hope that, eventually, they will rebuild and re-open the resort and water park.

Fortunately, Kahuna Laguna was not the only indoor water park in New England.  Great Wolf Lodge, located in Fitchburg, MA, is a favorite of many families.
