Summer in Maine is short.

Very short.

That's one of the reasons why so many Mainers try their best to soak in as much summer as possible.

If you're a kid, that probably means spending time in the pool.  If your family didn't have enough money to have a backyard pool, you may have spent quite a bit of time splashing around in a plastic 'kiddie' pool.  Or, you made frequent trips to the local city pool.

One of the great things about Central Maine's bigger towns is that we have several public pools.  For example, Augusta is home to four community pools.  Not to be outdone, Waterville has an entire pool complex that features waterslides.

The Alfond Municipal Pool Complex

While there had been a pool at the Alfond Youth Center for years, the pool complex recently underwent a major overhaul.

The project, which got underway late in the summer fo 2020, added waterslides and other fun additions to the pool complex.

According to the website, the complex features:

pristine blue pools, with two thrilling tube slides, serene lap lanes, and interactive water features for all ages. Whether you seek a splash-filled escape from the heat or a place to perfect your backstroke, our pools cater to every aquatic desire. And don’t forget, we offer swim lessons, and party rentals too!

When Does the Waterville Pool Complex Open for the Season?

According to the Alfond Municipal Pool Complex Facebook page, the summer attraction will open for the season on Saturday, June 21st.

The pool complex will be open through August 23rd.

What is the Cost For the Alfond Pool Complex?

The fees for the 2025 season will go up slightly.

This is the first increase in price since the new complex opened in 2021.

According to an article on the KJ website, day passes for children will increase from $10 to $12. Adults who want to swim in the pool will now pay $15 and the senior pass rate has increased from $5 to $7.

Season passes will increase this year, as well.  The article explains that season passes for children will increase from $70 to $80 and passes for children from Waterville who receive subsidies will increase from $30 to $40. Adult passes will increase to $90, but will only be $50 if the adult gets subsidies.  If you don't live in Waterville, but want to use the pool complex, you can get a nonresident season pass for $100.
