Week 9 in college football saw an upset in the top 5 and a couple of close games, at least for 3 quarters. Number 2 Florida State had the week off so the will stay at #2 but the top 5 will change because of the upset of #3 Ole Miss.

Number 1 Mississippi State had a tough time for three quarters at Kentucky but the defense stepped up in the 4th quarter and the Bull Dogs won 45-31. Running back Josh Robinson ran for 198 yards in the win.

Number 3 Ole Miss lost to #24 Louisiana State University 10-7 so they are sure to drop out of the top 5. LSU used three running backs in the game and combined for 250 yards rushing on 47 carries. With Ole Miss down by 1 on the one yard line, with only 9 seconds left, they went for the win instead of the tie and the pass was intercepted.

Number 4 Alabama didn’t have much trouble with Tennessee winning 34-20. The Tides’ wide receiver Amari Cooper caught nine passes for 224 yards, 185 of those in the first quarter.

Number 5 Auburn in now 10-1-1 over South Carolina as they beat the Gamecocks 42-35. Down by 7 with time running out South Carolina tried a Hail Mary pass but failed. Cameron Artis-Payne, Auburn's running back, ran for 176 yards and a TD.

Maine Black Bears scored a touchdown with just under 2 minutes to go and beat Rhode Island 20-14. It was and 11-play, 70 yard drive that began after an interception by Trevor Bates. Maine’s running back Nigel Beckford ran it in from 6 yards out for the win. Beckford ran for 107 yards on 25 carries for the Black Bears.
