For over half a century, Renys has been a staple of life in Maine.

The regional discount store chain sells everything from clothing to food to toys.  Anyone who has shopped at one can tell you that they do live up to their slogan of "Renys, a Maine adventure".

Recently, the chain has been making moves to expand into areas where they have never had stores.

Last fall, we got word that the chain would be opening a location in Bangor.  According to the Bangor Daily News, they have set an opening date for this new location.  The store, which is located in the old Christmas Tree Shops location on Springer Drive, will open to the public for the first time on April 4.

The Bangor location will be open from 9 AM to 8 PM Monday through Saturday, and 9 AM to 6 PM on Sundays.

One of the main reasons they are opening in early April is so that they can take advantage of tourist traffic going through the Bangor area for the solar eclipse.  The article explains that it is the first time Maine has been in the path of totality for a solar eclipse since the early 1960s.

In addition to the new location in Bangor, the store has locations in Bath, Belfast, Bridgton, Camden, Damariscotta, Dexter, Ellsworth, Farmington, Gardiner, Madison, Pittsfield, Portland, Saco, Topsham, Wells, and Windham.

Additionally, they plan to open a Waterville location in the coming months.
