According to an article on the WCSH 6 website, a school bus carrying Massabesic students was involved in a four-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, but fortunately no students were hurt.

According to the Sanford Police Department, the crash happened around 7:30 AM at the intersection of Route 4 (Alfred Road) and School Street.

Police say the Massabesic school bus was stopped in traffic when a chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles behind it occurred.  The collision ultimately caused the vehicle directly behind the bus to strike the rear of the bus.

Several students were on board at the time, but officials say none of them suffered any injuries.  The bus was not seriously damaged and was able to leave the scene under its own power.

One person in one of the other vehicles involved in the crash was taken to the hospital. Police say the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The crash temporarily slowed traffic in the area, but crews were able to clear the scene and reopen the roadway in about 30 minutes.

Massabesic schools serve students from Alfred, Limerick, Lyman, Newfield, Shapleigh, and Waterboro.
