Despite the brutally cold temperatures, and several large snowstorms, that we have had to endure, this winter has been fairly mild.  It has, for the most part, been about like the last five or six winters we have had here in Maine.

Of course, even though we are nearing the end of February, it does not mean that winter is ready to give up on making our lives an adventure.

As of Thursday afternoon, it is looking like the majority of our state will be getting snow on Friday afternoon and evening.  In a lot of places, that will likely be just a dusting.  However, there are some spots where we will probably get 4+ inches of snow.

WMTW is reporting that some parts of Maine are under a Winter Storm Warning.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for interior York County and a winter weather advisory for a much bigger chunk of the state, including Portland, ahead of a storm expected to drop several inches of snow.

The warning runs from noon Friday until 7 AM Saturday.  The advisory kicks in at 6 PM Friday and stretches through Saturday morning for Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec, Sagadahoc, and Lincoln counties, plus coastal York County and parts of Oxford and Franklin counties.

Snow is expected to move in Friday afternoon, with the heaviest stuff lining up right around the evening commute. Most of southern, central, and western Maine could pick up 3 to 6 inches, with a few spots in western Maine possibly pushing closer to 8 inches.

It also looks like we may be dealing with a winter weather event on Sunday evening.  Who knows, maybe the kids will be getting an extra day of vacation?
