With Washington’s Birthday coming up on February 22, here some interesting facts about the country’s first President. He was actually born on February 11, 1731, but shortly after the Gregorian calendar came into effect his birthdate (which he celebrated) became February 22, 1732.

He was the only President in America never to run for office but was elected unanimously both times, receiving all of the electoral votes. He was the one who came up with idea of addressing the President as "Mr. President" and established the two terms in office for the presidency.

Washington only had 8 years of formal schooling being mostly self-taught and a wiz in mathematics.

While President, he wrote more letters than any other President in history: more than 20,000.

He was so strong he could crack a walnut between is thumb and forefinger.

Unlike most photos and paintings you see of Washington, he did not wear a white wig.

In the 13 Colonies he was widely known as the best horseman around.
