Maine wildlife regulators will soon decide if they want to increase the number of deer hunting permits by 60 percent following a mild winter.

This week is the deadline for when the state of Maine will accept applications for its 'any deer' permit lottery. Applications are due by 11:59 pm on Friday, Aug. 15. A random drawing is scheduled for Sept. 9. The state will issue 37,185 of the 'any deer' permits...
