Memorial Day is a day set aside to honor those who have lost their lives in war defending our freedom. It didn’t start that way though. It started to honor those who died during the Civil War and wasn’t expanded to horror all who have died in all wars until after World War l.
As we remember our veterans who gave it all for our freedom, let's listen to five great country songs to remember the men and women who served and continue to serve our great country.

As we take time to honor veterans on Memorial Day, a new survey points to Maine as one of the top 10 states in the nation as places for veterans to retire.
There are a lot of Memorial Day celebrations in the Central Maine area for Monday, May 30th. Old Fort Western in Augusta will have a celebration beginning at 10 a.m. but there are more.
Albion: Parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Besse Building.
Anson: Parade will start at 10 a.m. at the Anson School and continue across the bridge into Madison. Services will be held in Anson, Madison, East Madison and Starks. Cadets from NCB3 Battalion, US Naval Sea Cadet Corps will provide the color guard for all events
