It's been a year riddled with financial uncertainty for people and businesses all around the United States. Coronavirus has not been an easy enemy to deal with from both healthcare and financial standpoints.

The most recent retailer to fall victim to mediocre sales and financial loss is Christopher and Banks. They announced yesterday that they will be closing "most if not all" of their stores as it seeks protection with Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Christopher & Banks is a retail clothing store that specializes in women's clothing.

According to the Kennebec Journal, Christopher & Banks has locations in the Auburn Mall, Marketplace @ Augusta, Bangor Mall and an outlet in Kittery. All of these Maine locations will be closing as part of the company's attempts to conserve what revenue they have left.

According to Christopher & Banks CEO Keri Jones,

“Despite the tremendous advancements we have made in executing our strategic plan, due to the financial distress resulting from the pandemic and its ongoing impact, we elected to initiate this process and pursue a potential sale of the business in whole or in part to position the company for the future. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated associates, loyal customers and supportive partners for their commitment to Christopher & Banks throughout these challenging times.”
