Livability.com has just released its inaugural 'Top 100 Best Small Towns' list. The list was exclusive to towns of population between 1,000 and 20,000. Forty data points were grouped into eight categories to form the Top 100, including demographics, real estate, health care and social and civic capital.

Three Maine towns made their Top 100 Best Small Towns' list!

Bar Harbor came in at number five of the list! They said, 'from its rocky coastline to the surrounding Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor an authentic New England experience and friendly community.

Brunswick came in at #44 on the list! The cite the town as the home of Bowdoin College along with excellent health care and arts and entertainment as reason why Brunswick made the list.

Augusta was #50 on the list. They said that expansive riverfront and downtown redevelopment project along with strong education and health care as reasons why Augusta made their list.

Lebanon, New Hampshire came in at #1 on their list.
