Turner Elementary School Wins a National Award

Turner Elementary school received a national honor yesterday. The school was honored as a blue ribbon school.

The award recognizes student achievement.

Principal Cynthia Alexander was in Washington D.C. to receive the award and she says that she is bringing back several ideas about how to continue to move the school forward.

She told WMTW, 'We're going to really try to do more outreach in the community. And get the kids more involved, even in, when we do robocalls to homes about some of the activities that are going on in our schools, having that be a piece of that, a part of that. We'd also like to see if we can do some outreach with some community service, right in our community.
