Vertical Greenhouse Coming To Westbrook

According to News Center Maine, the city of Westbrook is getting a vertical greenhouse in 2022.

Vertical Harvest is the United States-based company behind vertical greenhouses in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and soon to be Westbrook Maine. Vertical Harvest is dedicated to bringing local jobs and freshly grown produce to urban areas.

Construction on the project will start in the spring of 2021. This new vertical greenhouse will be 70,000 square feet located on Mechanic Street in Westbrook, and initially, they will grow lettuce and microgreens. The vertical greenhouse is expected to produce more than 1,000,000 pounds of produce as well as bring 50 full-time jobs locally.

The Jackson Hole, Wyoming location offers donation funded greenhouse tours and harvest boxes full of produce. So I'm curious to see if these fantastic options will be at the Maine location.
