You Will Hear Bells Tolling Around Augusta On Veterans Day
November is a special month with a few very special holidays.
Thursday marks Veterans Day, November 11th. A special day indeed and also one that the city of Augusta has planned for a special ringing of the bells. If you happen to be in the city at exactly 11am you will hear the bells of the churches in Augusta tolling 11 times as they honor everyone who has served, both past and present according to a story on centralmaine.com
The special theme for this year in the city of Augusta is "Honoring All Who Served". It's such an important reminder for us all that anyone and everyone that has served in the United States Military has served and sacrificed for our country. The sacrifices may look different for for each person who served. Some have suffered emotionally, some still bear scars physically, and others have made the ultimate sacrifice.
On a national level, this year also marks the 100th anniversary of the "Unknown Soldier" at Arlington National Cemetery. Anyone who has ever traveled there either personally, or through a school field trip will forever be touched by the experience.
Make sure to take the time to thank a Veteran for their service to our country. It's a well deserved honor, and we all owe them thanks for helping to fight for ands maintain our personal freedom.
Happy Veterans Day!
