A University of Maine professor in the School of Earth and Climate Sciences died in an accident Saturday in Antarctica.

This year's winners of the North American Wife Carrying Championship are a husband and wife from Maine. The Wife Championship was held Saturday in Newry, Maine.

Halloween is only three weeks away and it's time to start thinking about getting the pumpkins to decorate your home, for the kids to carve and for pumpkin pies. A great way to spend some time with your family is by going to a local pumpkin patch and picking out a pumpkin or two.

Have you noticed that the leaves are just starting to turn colors? Before you know it, we will be at the height of fall foliage season in Maine and one fun and unique way to soak in the colors is on a ride with the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad.

Last week, a horse was killed in Canaan and has remained under investigation by the Maine State Police Dept.  The owner of Lucy reported last week that the horse was tied to a cinder block in the front yard to graze on grass.  It was during that time, the owner said a car drove up onto the yard hitting the horse and ultimately dragging the horse a mile down the road.  As a result, the horse died.

Last year, I posted why I hate Fall.  Hate is such a strong word.  I've decided to change my thinking.  Try to find the positive, rather than focus on the negative (snow).  So, my attention this year will be what I love about Autumn.  Frankly, it is one of my favorite seasons.

Hard to believe 2016 is almost over.  To put it all into perspective, here's how many days are left until Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and more.  I purposely left out Winter...I don't feel that needs recognition.  Not a Winter fan.
