Every child deserves to grow up in a happy home. To feel the security and safety that comes with just being a kid. Join a sports team and have a parent watch from the stands. Have someone for support and encouragement through the first time riding a bike, catching their first fish, first date or driving for the first time. To lay the foundation of being a good human being. If you have thought about adopting a child, here are older kids looking for their forever home in Maine.
Brothers: Nicholas (7) & Anthony (5)
Anthony, D.O.B. 10/20/10 (age almost 5 ), is a handsome young man with a sweet temperament. He is placed with his older brother, Nicholas, age 7
He is a sweet boy who enjoys playing outside, swimming, watching t.v. , Sponge Bob Square Pants is a favorite!
Nicholas, D.O.B.12/12/07, is a rather reserved young man, who enjoys playing outside and also enjoys playing with Legos, watching t.v. , and playing video games.
Anthony and Nicholas had their first experiences camping and fishing this summer, which they both enjoyed. They are two young men who are ready to be a part of a loving family!
Sisters: Sherrill (7) & Danielle (4)
Sherrill and Danielle are sisters who are in need of a forever family. They are free for adoption to a family in need of two special little girls to love.
Sherrill is an active and clever seven year old girl who is attending second grade this year. Sherrill enjoys outdoor play of any kind, such as playing on the playground or just running around outside with her sister and other playmates. Last summer Sherrill learned to love swimming! Sherrill likes going to school and enjoys coloring and other quiet activities. She is especially good at making puzzles.
Danielle is a sweet and social four year old girl who is attending a pre-k program this year. She enjoys typical four year old activities, such as playing in the sandbox, playing with dolls, coloring, and cuddling. Danielle likes to play dress-up and have her hair and nails done.
Siblings: Daryn (11) & Kyisha (10)
Daryn, 11 years old, and Kyisha, 9, are very close siblings whom are in need of a permanent home. They have been together most of their lives and would like to remain that way. They are very energetic children who enjoy spending time in the outdoors. They share many of the same interests such as swimming, fishing, 4-wheeling, camping, and participating in extracurricular activities such as soccer or basketball. Kyisha is a social butterfly while Daryn enjoys his independence. Kyisha loves animals and is interested in horseback riding. Daryn loves video games and learning about history such as the presidents.
Kalob (6)
Kalob is a 6 year old boy looking to find his forever family. Kalob enjoys playing with his game boy, gym class, outdoor play and games, super heroes, cars/racing. He excels in reading and loves to sit down and read a book with his current foster family. Kalob is very intelligent and excels in his academics at school. Kalob can be very affectionate and will bond well with the right person. Kalob needs a family that is willing to be patient with him as he learns to trust them. He does not have a clear understanding of what adoption means and because of this would need a family that is willing to commit to him and provide consistency and structure in his daily life.
Aaron (10)
Aaron is a 10 year old boy who is starting 5th grade this year. He is an active boy who enjoys being outdoors, caring for animals, riding his bike, shooting basketballs, and swimming, among other activities. Recently, Aaron discovered that he has a natural athletic aptitude. He is looking forward to being able to participate in a team sport in the new school year.
While Aaron has a lot of energy and likes to be outside, he also enjoys quiet time, playing with his toys on the floor, coloring, and watching movies. He is a skilled reader and especially enjoys books about adventure and survival.
Everyone who knows Aaron remarks at what a thoughtful and kind young man he is. Aaron is accepting of children who are challenged or disabled, as well as those who have behavior issues, offering friendship and support. He seeks friendship with his peers and generally gets along well with everyone.
Aaron is free for adoption and is eager to have a family again. Aaron has a 10 year old sister placed in another foster home with whom he maintains a close relationship. He has also maintained a close relationship with his former foster parents, who are adopting his sister. All parties have a strong desire to stay in touch and maintain a relationship, and it is in Aaron's best interest to do so.
Hannah (12)
Hannah is a 12 year old girl who is very bright and has a huge heart. She LOVES animals and previously participated in therapeutic horseback riding. She is waiting to start volunteering at the local animal shelter. She loves the responsibility of taking care of animals which she demonstrates during visits to her grandmothers house and when she took care of baby chicks at her summer program a few months ago. Hannah also loves to read and learn new information that she can share with you. Last year she participated in a group that read to younger students in her school.
Hannah is beginning to open up and shows improved ability to talk about her feelings. Hannah needs to feel safe and secure in her daily life and a family that can bond with her and gain her trust is essential. Hannah does best with high levels of structure, predictable routines, and clear expectations and consequences. A family that provides warmth and empathy combined with clear boundaries will likely be most beneficial for Hannah.
Kainen (5)
Kainen is an active 5 year old boy. He is a blonde haired, blue eyed cutie! He wears glasses and does really well with taking care of them He loves puzzles, books, figurines and Super WHY! (a kids television show). Kainen loves to be outside playing and is often happiest when left to his own devices wandering around and playing. Kainen enjoys school, and thrives in the structured environment. Most often times Kainen is a cheerful and easy going. He shows great affection to caregivers and is able to form great attachments with those around him.
Noah (16)
Noah is a 16 year old male. He is very interested in being adopted and having a forever family.
Noah wants to share that he is intelligent, he is good at helping other peers, and he is good at making people laugh. Noah has a great sense of humor and is a very likable kid. Noah participated and completed a ropes course and is very proud of this accomplishment. Noah has goals and dreams, which include getting a job, graduating high school, and getting a college degree.
Noah likes to read, write, listen to music, and hang out with friends and family. Activities he likes are playing video games, going to the movies, and doing “fun stuff” over vacations. Noah added he likes animals as well as younger or older kids. Noah likes sports, including football, basketball, and baseball. He has played football, basketball, baseball and tennis. He likes to watch and go to WWE wrestling events.
Joshua (13)
Joshua, D.O.B. 6/13/2002, is a handsome young man with warm brown eyes and a friendly smile.
Joshua is currently in the 6th grade and enjoys school very much.
Josh enjoys playing outside; he enjoys playing basketball in the yard, swimming and going to the beach to name a few favorites. Joshua is very interested in farm life and particularly enjoys the animals and machinery. He enjoys playing with his classmates. He also very much enjoys the attention of adults. He has a good sense of humor and an upbeat personality.
Olivia (15)
Olivia is a young woman who loves to dance. She will delight you when asked to do a true performance. Music and singing provide a positive outlet for her. Board games and card games are a special interest. Olivia likes to go shopping go to church, and hang out with her friends.
A two parent family or single parent is sought for Olivia. Parents who have experience with children; who can be firm with expectations; and who have a sense of humor may be best suited for Olivia. Olivia LOVES babies and toddlers and likes to play with them!
Kasandra (15)
Meet Kasandra age 15. She is an adorable young lady, with a great smile.
She enjoys praise and affection. She is a caring, kind young teen who has a lot of empathy for other people. Kasandra likes to please others by volunteering to help out. Kasandra is very affectionate and likes to be close to her caregiver by reading on the couch, getting her hair done, swimming and getting and receiving hugs.
Kasandra’s enjoys being “hands-on”, and her favorite subjects are Art and Gym.
Kasandra engages will with adults that she sees as nurturing and comforting. She would do best in a home with only one other child and with a family able to provide structure and consistency.
Kasandra enjoys being active including taking walks, swimming, horseback riding lessons and going to the mall. Kasandra is creative and enjoys arts & crafts, cooking, singing and getting her nails done! Kasandra also likes down time as well including reading books, watching cartoons, and movies, making puzzles and playing board games. She loves Sponge Bob and Dora. Kasandra enjoys music and loves listening to the band, One Direction. Her favorite color is pink and she recently learned she likes driving a go-kart! Kasandra loves animals too!
Demetrious (14)
Demetrious is a handsome young man with a nice sense of humor. He enjoys being outside, playing and watching sports, watching t.v. (his favorite shows are The Flash and Green Arrow), playing video games and board games. Demetrious is adventurous and is open to having new experiences. He likes animals and is hoping that his new family has pets. This school year he helped to raise money for a local animal shelter. He also received the "most improved student" award at his school. Demetrious is very much looking forward to being a part of a family.
Brandon (16)
Brandon is a tall, intelligent and artistic 16 year old who is looking for a one or two parent family who share his Christian beliefs. Brandon has been attending a local Christian church for the last four years and is involved in youth group activities there. He recently completed ninth grade in his local high school, a place where school staff value his involvement in classes when he is motivated to work hard. When Brandon does want to do well in school, and is properly supported by his caregiver and school staff, he can earn honor roll grades . This young man likes to sketch and enjoys electronic games. One of his career goals is to design and develop electronic games. Brandon does have some sibling contact with a 12 year old sister, who is also in foster care. He does not maintain ongoing contact with his parents, but has recently begun to ask about them more. Brandon is legally cleared for adoption.
Jacob (15)
Jacob is an energetic 14 year old boy. He is a loving child with a magnetic personality. He has brown hair and eyes and wears glasses. Jacob loves bugs, and collecting things. He likes to go swimming and play outside. He loves adult interactions and is a great conversationalist. He enjoys music, reading and watching movies.
Jacob is an active child and likes to be busy. He would do well with active parents that are able to channel his energy into positive and creative outlets. He does get bored easily but his attention span is increasing, especially if he helps create a list of things he can do. Jacob does need a family to be able to give him lots of time and attention and so he would do well with a family without other children his age or younger. He would do well with older children.
Jacob states that he would love a mom and dad who will spend lots of time with him. He enjoys adult company and has done well when his housemates are older than him.
