We recently learned that my daughter, Emma-Leigh, has a similar spine condition commonly associated with Chiari Malformation.  While, Emma doesn't have Chiari, she does have some of the same conditions that correlate with Chiari.  Over the last week, Emma's symptoms have progressed to an unmanageable point and now she requires surgical intervention.

She's such a strong willed individual and has managed to be a trooper through the last few days.  From experience, living with chronic pain is torture.  Emma has maintained composure and pushes through her limits to be the best person she can be.  Recently, for her 13th birthday, she didn't want any gifts and chose to gather as many donations as possible for the Kennebec Valley Humane Society.  Also, with several absences from school, she kept up with her school work and still maintained honor roll status.  She is truly an inspiration and leads a great example for anyone who struggles.

We will travel to New York, where she will have surgery on her spine on December 7th.  Hopefully, with this procedure, she will regain her quality of life...not the one she's hoping for...but a more obtainable reality.  We have an amazing surgeon!  Dr. Bolognese has improved my life immensely and I have no reservations about his ability to do the same for my daughter.

Traveling, medical expenses and being out of work is an overwhelming thought.  But where there's a will, there's a way.  If you would like to help with Emma's journey click here.  Please send positive energy her direction!  We both get to start 2017 off brand new and fixed!
