This winter, Maine has captured plenty of weather headlines. While bitter cold and ice have dominated the news, one interesting stat has slid through the cracks.

Maine and New Hampshire have had a lot of earthquakes. In the last week alone, Maine has had six! For a part of the country which traditionally is relatively light in seismic activity, this was quite the shocker. Granted, most of the quakes are not really felt, but on the heels of Alaska's major 7.9 earthquake Tuesday, and a few light earthquakes in this area, it's an interesting footnote to the winter of 2017-'18.

By the way, we're only a little over a month into winter!
