Thanks To The 2014 ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, There’s Been Progress With Detection

Remember, 2 years ago, everywhere you looked on social media there was one ice bucket challenge after another?  All to raise money and awareness to ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's Disease).  According to the ALS Association, $1 million of the $220 million raised by the social media campaign allowed Project MinE scientists to isolate the gene that causes it.

Amazing!  I hope they can start properly diagnosing people soon.  My grandmother passed away from what they thoughts was ALS...it was never confirmed.  But, since my journey with Chiari Malformation started...I've learned that chiari can be misdiagnosed as ALS.  I'm wondering if my grandmother might have had chiari instead.

We've come so far with modern medicine, and yet, we still have much further to go.
