$1.4 Million Donation Made To Maine Veteran Retreat Used For Debt
According to mainepublic.org, a Maine organization received a $1.4 million donation days before Christmas. The House in the Woods organization in Lee organizes retreats for United States servicemen and women and their families.
Paul House and his wife, Dee, created the House in the Woods after they lost their son Joel A. House to an improvised explosive device while serving our country in Iraq. The House in the Woods organization offers outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and camping to service members, veterans, and gold star family members.
Since its start in 2010, this fantastic group has served some 1,700 servicemen and servicewomen and family members. They are offering families a much-needed escape from those they love.
Paul House and his wife Dee say the money will be used to clear all of The House in the Woods debt, making everyone a lot less stressed. This donation will also allow the House in the Woods to devote more time and proper resources to its outdoor retreats.
Just because their debt is gone, The House in the Woods will continue looking for additional donations, individuals, and corporations that would like to sponsor trips for our service members and their families.
