As a student of the New England School of Communications, I was lucky enough to be able to have my meals at Husson's Dickerman Dining Commons.  Or, as we all called it, the DDC.

The DDC served up three great meals on the weekdays and brunch & dinner on the weekends.  While the menu varied greatly, it was all good.  We got everything from steak tips to chicken stir fry.  Plus, they often had specialty food stations.  Like made-to-order omelets, for example.

At the time, it never really occurred to me that the food at some colleges was not as good as what we were getting at Husson/NESCom.

Clearly, though, not all college dining experiences are the same.  While some aren't as good, some are so great that they top national lists.

Maine College Features Some of the Best College Food in America

Recently, Niche put out their list of the colleges offering the best food in the United States.

Maine's Bates College came in 7th place on the list.  The Lewiston college, which first opened in 1855, received an "A+" grade for food.

The college's website says, in part:

We have tough conversations in tough climates because that's what makes Bates students more resilient, compassionate and extremely capable. It's what makes Bates a college for the coming times, offering experiences, insights and opportunities that will last a lifetime.

Topping this year's list was UCLA.  Virginia Tech came in 2nd place and UMass Amherst came in 3rd place.  You can check out the full list HERE
