This New England City Named One of the Best For Dating
As we near Valentine's Day, single people may be feeling like the Two-Minute Warning just sounded.
Even though there is no shame in being single, many people are just trying to lock down a significant other so that they have someone to spend the holiday with.
Well, if you are playing the dating game, especially if you have lived in several places, it probably would not surprise you that some cities are better spots for dating than others. However, a new survey has found that the best cities for dating may not be the ones that instantly pop in your mind.
The Best Cities For Dating in the United States
Consumer Affairs recently put out their list of the best cities for dating. With a quick glance of the list one thing becomes clear: most of the best cities for dating are in the colder parts of the country.
The top three were Boston (3rd place), Pittsburgh (2nd place), and Rochester, New York (1st place).
To determine the list the Consumer Affairs Research Team looked at the 110 biggest cities in the country to figure out which ones are actually good for dating. They compared things like how many potential dates are out there, cost of living, quality of life, and how interested people even are in dating.
They say the top cities were places where cheaper living costs enticed more singles to take up residency, had plenty of other singles to meet, and lots to do once you actually land the date.
Rounding out the list were:
- 4- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- 5- Cleveland, Ohio
- 6- Atlanta, Georgia
- 7- Washington, D.C.
- 8- Chicago, Illinois
- 9- St. Louis, Missouri
- 10- Buffalo, New York
My Take: I was kind of surprised to see Boston on the list because, at least for those of us living in Maine, it has always seemed like a pricey place to live. On the other hand, though, there are several large colleges in the metro so there are likely to be plenty of other singles. On top of that, the city is loaded with theaters, music venues, great restaurants, and bars/clubs.
