Bus Driver Shortage Causes RSU 4 To Offer Full Remote Classes
It's no secret that many businesses are struggling to find and keep help. The lack of staff isn't just affecting big box stores; it's also interrupting school districts across the country. They are having a hard time finding and keeping bus drivers, causing many districts to find alternate modes of transportations.
According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, due to a bus driver shortage, school district RSU 4 cannot offer bus transportation to several normal routes. Because of the extreme shortage, all 3 schools within the district will be offering a full remote option for those unable to get to and from school. In-person schooling will still be an option for those who wish to attend.
At this time, RSU 4 is asking parents, parent organization groups, and other parents to offer any extra help to provide students with transportation to and from school. School administrators ask parents who may have questions, to reach out directly to the child's school.
