Country News: Blake Shelton Partners With the Grand Ole Opry
Blake Shelton and Ryman Hospitality Properties which owns the Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman Auditorium have formed a partnership to open two entertainment venues, both named Ole Red, in Nashville, Tennessee, and Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
The Tishomingo Ole Red location, meanwhile, will be situated on Main Street, in a former dentist’s office and the building that used to house his ex-wife Miranda Lambert‘s Pink Pistol boutique.
Following an illness, surgery and subsequent hospital stay that began in early 2016, country legend Mel Tillis is back at home. In January of 2016, Tillis was hospitalized for diverticulitis, then had colon surgery; on his way to the hospital at that time, he became septic, his daughter, Pam Tillis, recently shared on her Facebook page, and he spent about a month in the ICU. Following the surgery, rumors began circulating that the country icon was in critical condition; however, the reports, which originated with tweets from fellow artists, were greatly exaggerated.
More than half a dozen additional acts have been added to the lineup for '1 Night. 1 Place. 1 Time: A Heroes & Friends Tribute to Randy Travis'. The concert, set to take place on February 8 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and will feature Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Rodney Atkins, Chris Janson, Jamey Johnson, Montgomery Gentry, Michael Ray, Ricky Skaggs, Michael W. Smith, the Randy Travis Band, Tanya Tucker, Josh Turner and many more.
