
Country News: Class of 2017 Country Music Hall of Fame Inductees
The 2017 class of inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame were announced by host Vince Gill on Wednesday. The three new members of the Hall are: Alan Jackson, songwriter Don Schlitz and the great Jerry Reed. The Boot said past inductees also attended the ceremony including Brenda Lee, Alabama and the Oak Ridge Boys.
Thursday night was the tribute to Merle Haggard and there were several memorable performances including Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney performing ‘Poncho and Lefty.’ The song original done by Nelson and Haggard had Willie singing his lines in the song and Kenny to the lines of the late Merle Haggard. ‘Poncho and Lefty’ went #1 on the Billboard Country charts. Amy Grant, the wife of Vince Gill will get a star on the Music City walk of Fame. Her star will be added to the walk on April 27th. Grant who is a Grammy Awards-winning artist has entertained millions of fans over her 40 year career. According to The Boot, Grant released a Christmas album, ‘Tennessee Christmas’ this past December. Recent inductees to the walk are Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Alabama.
