Fiddle player and vocalist for Alabama, Jeff Cook, has Parkinson’s disease. Cook found out four years ago but just recently shared the news. Alabama members Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry were by his side when he read a prepared statement saying he’ll step back from his duties with the band on April 29. According to The Boot, his loss of balance and coordination, as well as tremors makes it too frustrating to continue to play.

Sporting a hard hat and holding a hammer, Blake Shelton revealed that construction is underway for his Ole Red Tishomingo entertainment venue in his hometown. The venue is right on Maine Street with a 4,700 square foot restaurant and performance space as well as a 1,400 square foot retail store. According to The Boot the venue is scheduled to open this fall. There will be another Ole Red venue will open in Nashville in 2018.

Cassidy, Dierks wife, will run in this year’s Boston Marathon. She is running to raise money for a Nashville family homeless shelter called Safe Haven. This will be her second Boston Marathon, her first in 2014, but this will be the first time she has tried to raise money for a cause. She connected with Safe Haven after seeing a homeless mom that was featured in Dierks music video for ‘Riser.’ The boston Marathon is this Monday (Patriots Day).
