As popular as Duck Dynasty the T.V shows is, ‘Duck Commander Musical’, didn’t go over as well. The musical played in Las Vegas from April but was cancelled as of yesterday, May 17th.

The show was based on the book ‘Duck Commander Family’ and opened at the Rio hotel on April 8th. The show featured footage of the Robertsons as well as original country and bluegrass songs. It was also controversial because of the content of the book, comments of homosexuality made by Phil Roberson.

Another reason the show was a gamble is the uneven track record of musicals in Las Vegas. Despite the closing, producers have other ideas for the musical. They haven’t said what those ideas are, but director Jeff Calhoun said they have learned from the Las Vegas run and are evaluating many possibilities.
