A Saturday night crash in Winthrop has claimed the life of a Massachusetts man and seriously injured three other men.

According to an article posted on the WMTW website, at about 9 PM on Saturday someone called 911 to report a speeding car driving dangerously on Route 202 in Winthrop.

When law enforcement spotted the vehicle, a Ford Mustang that was headed west on Route 202, it was clocked at about 123 miles per hour.  The officer who spotted the vehicle attempted to stop it, but was not able to catch up.

A short distance up the road, near the intersection of Route 202 and Turtle Run Road, the officer reportedly came across a crash that involved three vehicles, including the Ford Mustang.

The article explains that police say the Mustang hit a white Toyota Tacoma pickup, which was attempting to turn onto Turtle Run Road.  That truck was driven by Steven Greene, 76, of Wayland, Massachusetts.  Mr. Greene was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and his truck was pushed into the path of a black Chevy truck/

Sadly, Mr Greene died at the scene.

The driver of the Chevy pickup was not injured.

Police say the Mustang is owned by Jason Kirshman, 51, from Augusta, and was driven by John Stratton, 21, of Sidney.

The article goes on to explain that Kirshman was a passenger in the Mustang and was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with what police said were life-threatening injuries.  Additionally, John Stratton, the reported driver of the Mustang, and passenger Nathaniel Stratton, 44, of Oakland, were both flown to Maine Medical Center with critical injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.  At this time, no charges have been filed.
