From Lobster Dinner On The Coast To Sleeping In A Tree House – Here’s 12 Romantic Things To Do In Maine
Looking for something new and refreshing for date night with that special someone? Tired of the traditional dinner and a movie. According to Onlyinourstate.com, there are at least 12 things worth adding to your Date Nite Bucket List. Using their ideas, I altered them to my liking. There's something for everyone.
1. Rent a tree house at Maine Treesort & Disc Golf in Stoneham Maine:
Starting at $65 a night, spend the night high above the land and also play disc golf. This just screams FUN!
2. Go Rollerskating!
C'mon! Nothing is more fun than holding your 'loves' hand while skating around the floor to good music!
3. Have a laid back afternoon at an outdoor Restaurant, like Shaw's Wharf in New Harbor
You can eat outside on their deck and even choose the lobster you want to eat. Fresh lobster arrives daily right at their wharf. You can watch the boats come in and out. Lobster not your thing, their menu extends well beyond seafood.
4. Take a nice leisurely hike on one of Maine's many trails. Try French's Mountain in Rome.
I've done this hike several times. It's easy and only takes about 20 minutes to get to the top. Once there, the view is breathtaking.
5. Check out the Criterion Theater in Bar Harbor
The Criterion is well-known throughout Maine for good reason. Built in 1932, it is rumored to house a few ghosts, but more noteworthy is its dedication to preserving the space for storytelling and performances. It offers a range of events from live performances to films.
6. Go to a Drive-In Movie at the Skowhegan Drive-In
There is nothing more romantic than curling up close to your sweetie and watching a movie...and maybe a little smoochin'
7. Take in one of Maine's Art Walks
From Portland to Rockland, Kingsfield to Presque Isle, you can walk the streets (hand-in-hand) and galleries of a variety of Maine towns to see everything from performance to paintings. Check out Art Walk Maine for details on dates and all participating places.
8. Take a stroll hand in hand through the Botanical Gardens in Boothbay
This is fun with the family or as a romantic day out with your loved one. The gardens are beyond stunning and are very calming to walk through.
9. Stay a romantic weekend at the Norumbega Inn - IT'S A CASTLE!
Between the tree houses and now a castle... I'm torn on where to go first! Overlooking the Penobscot Bay in Camden, the Norumbega Castle stands out from just about every other structure along the Maine coast. Built in 1886, it was privately owned and lived in for almost 100 years before becoming a bed and breakfast that you can still stay in today. Fun Fact: The current owner was a winner on popular Food Network show, "Chopped."
