Well, until I realized I was closing in on a Maine State Trooper's cruiser at 90+ miles per hour. That was an expensive mistake I did not want to repeat. Most people who frequently travel through Maine realize that the state's highest speed limits are on I-95.
Most parts of the Interstate have a speed limit of between 65 MPH and 70 MPH.
However, north of Bangor, there is a stretch of road where you can really fly!
Except for a few spots, the speed limit on the 109-mile stretch of I-95 between Old Town and Houlton is 75 MPH.
What State Has the Highest Speed Limit in the Nation?
According to Rhino Car Hire, the highest speed limit in the country is a short stretch of road in Texas. The speed limit on that tollway is a whopping 85 MPH.
