How Hurricane Dorian Will Affect Maine (UPDATE)

UPDATE: (10 PM on Thursday 9/5/19)

According to WCSH 6, there is now a tropical storm watch from Schoodic Point to Easport.  The watch is in effect until 3 PM on Sunday afternoon.

It now appears that the rain, which will be heavy at times, could remain with parts of central and coastal Maine through mid-afternoon on Saturday.

As for Saturday's winds, the coast could see gusts of 40 to 55 MPH.  Inland, we could see 40 MPH gusts.

According to WMTW's Ted McInerney, while Hurricane Dorian will not hit Maine directly, we will feel the its effects.

It is currently listed as a Category 3 Hurricane, but it is expected to weaken throughout Thursday and Friday.

As the storm makes its way up the Eastern seaboard, its speed will increase.

In Maine, we can expect rain throughout Saturday morning with 35 MPH gusts.  The rain will be heaviest in the state's mid-coast and downeast regions.

Meteorologists caution that a wiggle in the storm's course or speed could change Saturday's conditions dramatically.
