Central Maine Man Dead Following July 4th Drowning
According to an article on the WMTW website, a Skowhegan man is dead after a boating accident on the Kennebec River over the Fourth of July weekend.
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says 21-year-old Jakub Prokop drowned Saturday morning after being thrown from a boat.
According to officials, Prokop was a passenger aboard a 16-foot 2006 Lund boat traveling upriver from the Hinckley Boat Launch at about 11:20 AM Investigators say he was not wearing a life jacket when he was thrown into the river and drowned.
Authorities have not said what caused Prokop to be ejected from the moving boat. The incident remains under investigation.
The Maine Warden Service was assisted at the scene by the Skowhegan Fire Department, Skowhegan Police Department, Fairfield Fire Department, Redington Ambulance and Delta Ambulance.
