Kia appears to be the latest auto maker to announce a voluntary recall of almost 70,000 cars due to the potential risk of engine fires.

Due to the government shut down the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which oversees these recalls is mostly closed. Kia has decided to initiate the recall on it's own. This recall is actually part of a previous recall that involved an engine replacement. It effects the 2011-2014 Optima, the 2012-2014 Sorento and the 2011-2013 Sportage.
