Where were you on that September day?

I'm not sure about you, but I know that I'll never forget where I was and what I was doing when the world seemingly stopped dead in its tracks on Thursday, September 11th of 2001.
Ironically enough I was in my 7th-grade History class as one of the biggest historical events took place. I remember hearing teachers as they gathered in the hallways. I remember the sobs as teachers tried to figure out what this meant and how to break the news to students.
As the teacher re-entered the history class with a box tv on a rolling cart she made a comment about living in a historical moment. Unfortunately, most classrooms didn't know equipped with tv's like they do today, because of this several other classrooms joined ours.
Together as a group we sat and watched the world we thought we lived in becoming something we didn't even recognize. Parents were frantically dismissing kids from class and I distinctively remember one of my classmates being pulled out of the classroom by a teacher to let them know that their family members in New York for business were safe.
Something about watching history happen while you're in history class hits home, I can honestly say I never imagined we would see such a horrific act happen.
We might be rapidly approaching the 20th anniversary of September 11th, 2001, but the sadness and loss are still the same 20 years later. It's a day that I and many others will never forget.
