Those interested in getting the coronavirus vaccine but who have a problem finding a ride to the vaccination site no longer have to worry.

According to WMTW, The Maine Department of Health and Human Services is now offering free rides to those wanting to get the covid-19 vaccine. As a way to make this happen, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services teamed up with ModivCare to coordinate rides.

ModicCare is the same company that DHHS uses for MaineCare recipients with free rides to appointments. You don't need to be a MaineCare member to receive a free ride, though; these free rides are available to Maine residents who lack reliable transportation, cannot find transportation, and those who are unable to drive.

Ride appointments are available Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Before requesting a ride to get the vaccination, individuals must have an appointment scheduled. Those in need of a ride must request at least 48 hours in advance. And can do so by calling 855-608-5172.
