A man from Arkansas is dead following an early Tuesday morning crash in Central Maine.

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, at about 1:30 AM on August 26th, Troopers from the Maine State Police were called to a serious crash on Interstate 95 northbound in Plymouth, right around mile marker 161.

When troopers got to the scene, they found a 2008 Hyundai upside down in the median. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Tyler Cochran of Skagway, Alaska, had not survived the crash.  First responders had to work to remove him from the vehicle, and sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, speed and impairment are believed to have played a role in this tragedy.  As of Tuesday afternoon, the crash remains under investigation as police continue to piece together exactly what happened in those early morning hours.

There is no word on what brought the deceased to the state.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Cochran's family and friends during this difficult time.

If you have any information that could help the Maine State Police reconstruct the crash, you are being asked to call Trooper Bradley Condon at 207-973-3700, extension 9.
