A new study from WalletHub.com, says that Maine ranks poorly in many categories when it comes to its teenage drivers.

The study used 16 metrics to evaluate driving conditions for teenagers in each of the 50 states.

Maine finished 42nd overall in the study.

Maine ranked high in teen driving fatalities per 100,000 teenagers. In 2013, Maine had one teen driving fatality for approximately every 6,900 teenagers.

Maine ranked 41st in the number of teen drunk driving violations per 100,000 teenagers, and 48th in terms of automobile insurance increases after teen drivers are added to policies.

Maine ranked 33rd in terms of road quality and 34th in the number of vehicle miles traveled per capita.

New York ranked #1 on the list and South Dakota came in last.
