Maine Man Accused of Murdering Bangor Woman Arrested in Massachusetts
On Wednesday, police in Bangor were called to a home on Larkin Street for a wellness check.
Coworkers of the resident reported that she had not showed up for work that day and they were unable to get ahold of her.
When police arrived, they discovered that 39-year-old Virginia Cookson was deceased.
Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. The medical examiner determined the manner of her death was homicide.

According to WABI, police have made an arrest in connection with the case. The article explains that 42-year-old Richard Keith Thorpe, of Bangor, had been arrested in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Law enforcement officials in Maine say they issued an arrest warrant for Thorpe for murder.
Cookson's mother has reportedly set up a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral expenses and to help Cookson's daughter, Karmyn, get through the tragedy of losing her mother.
The GoFundMe says, in part:
Hi, my name is Sheryl Vanadestine and I am raising funds for my granddaughter Karmyn Cookson whose mother Virginia Cookson died as a result of a domestic violence homicide on September 25th. Funds will help pay for her funeral expenses and help Karmyn get through this devastating tragedy.
