Maine Pre-K Programs To Receive Funds From Maine Jobs & Recovery
According to News Center Maine, Gov. Janet Mills announced Tuesday that $2.7 million would be distributed to expand access to pre-K programs across Maine.
Each of the 14 school districts can decide how the funding will be distributed in one of the following areas, buying or renovating space, staff training, recruitment, and other needed start-up costs.
Another way school districts can use this money is by expanding programs already in place. This funding will be in part from the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan.
School districts receiving new pre-K programs include Appleton Area School District, Greenville School Department, Kittery School District, St. George Municipal School Unit, Yarmouth School Department.
Pre-K program expansions are expected for Bangor School Department, Limestone School Department, MSAD #49, MSAD #54, RSU #22, RSU #39, St. George School Department, Sanford School Department, Vassalboro School Department.
Schools starting new pre-K programs include RSU #24 and Yarmouth School Department.
