My Top-Secret Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Dirty Maine Home

Okay, I won't be so perky about it because not everyone loves to clean like I do. I'll be honest with you, the only reason I like it is because it's the only thing I can control in my life. There it is.

So let's pretend that we're all super stoked to clean out the "COVID dust" from the baseboards. I want to help everyone, including myself to become more organized and refreshed as we go into this glorious spring season in Maine. My life is in a current disarray because I am in the middle of a big move and I am trying my level best to Marie Kondo the crap out of my things.

Here is a video of her helping a family organize their life which I found was very helpful. I also make a cameo in this video. She and I love meditating together, it's a thing. She often whispers sweet nothings into my ear about cleaning my oven. So, there's that.

Each year, when spring comes you get this renewed feeling that pushes you to be better. It's almost like the universe is saying, "Elizabeth, get it together, clean your shower drain."

So let's get started. The first thing I do when spring cleaning is I pick a room and pare down my things. I look at the room and whatever I have not used or am not attached to emotionally, I donate or toss in the trash.

After that, I move the furniture, fill up the mop, grab the vacuum, Windex, Swiffer and get going. The crevices are the spots to focus on. Behind the couch, the corners of the flooring. Focus on where the dust builds up more so that you're breathing cleaner air.
