On April 21, NASCAR 2014 Sprint Cup champion Kevin Harvick and his #4 Chevrolet were honored at the White House. The ceremony took place on the south lawn and the car was big point of interest to the President.

Joining Harvick were his wife Delana, crew chief Rodney Childers and co-owner/teammate Tony Stewart. Harvick said that President Obama expressed interest in driving a NASCAR car and Stewart told him he could have this one.

Later Stewart said he had to clarify his statement saying he meant the President could drive the #4, not keep it. He said Obama has a nice big yard that he could go play on. The car was already being loaded onto the truck, so it didn’t happen.

It was Harvick’s first visit to the White House as a Sprint Cup champion.  The President noted 2014 was an exciting year for Harvick and the No. 4 car as it racked-up five wins en route to Havick’s first Cup championship. He noted Kevin was with a new team and crew chief and had to adjust, but did it quickly and was able to win the championship.
