Police On The Scene Of Armed Standoff In Central Maine
A standoff in Auburn, which started just after 2 PM on Monday, continues.
According to a recent update from the Auburn Police Department's Facebook page, police have made contact with the suspect, but he remains very uncooperative.
It has also been reported that the Maine State Police tactical team is on the scene.
The post goes on to say:
Residents on Gallander Avenue must continue to shelter in place.
Park Avenue between Lake Street and Summer Street remains closed to through traffic. Gamage Avenue between Park Avenue and Grandview Avenue also remains closed.
According to an article on the WCSH 6 website, the incident started when someone fired a weapon from inside the home. According to police, it appears that the shot was aimed at a vehicle. The shot struck the vehicle, but no one was injured.
It also appears that the person in the vehicle was known by the person who fired the shot. However, it is not known who the shooter is.
