Punxsutawney Phil Predicts Six More Weeks of Winter
Punxsutawney Phil came out of his box this morning, February 2, 2015 and predicted six more weeks of winter. Legend has it if Phil sees his shadow it means 6 more weeks of winter. If he doesn’t see his shadow we would be in for an early spring.
Phil predicting the weather dates back to the 1880’s but the celebration at Gobbler’s Knob took on a whole new meaning with the release of the 1993 movie Ground Hog Day. Since the release of that movie crowds of 30,000 or more have come to the tiny town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
