I never knew this because I never wore them but scrunchies feel out of popularity but are now making a comeback.

Scrunchies were one of the most popular accessories of the 80's but lately have been considered fashion for hipsters. Lately though they have been attracting a wider appreciation making people thick the scrunchie is making a comeback.
