Thunderstorms, sometimes severe, are just something you need to deal with during Maine summers.

Last night, for example, there was a lot of lightning and thunder over the Augusta area, but (based on the fact that my vehicle still had bird poo on the windshield) it does not appear that any rain fell as a result of the storm.

Today could be a different story, though.

According to the meteorologists at WGME, some parts of Maine could see thunderstorms with high winds and heavy rain on Friday afternoon and evening.

The greatest threat for these nasty storms will be in the Portland area, but there is a chance that we could see severe weather as far north as Bangor.  If we do end up getting hit with nasty weather, it is likely to happen between 3 PM and 6 PM on Friday.

Even though the risk is slight in most of Maine, it is always important to be prepared.  Make sure your vehicle windows are rolled up, remove small and light objects from your yard, and make sure your devices are charged (in case the power goes out).

As of Friday afternoon, it looks like we will be dealing with another rainy Saturday.  On the plus side, it looks like Sunday will be sunny with a high in the lower 70s.
