It's not secret...it's gonna be a hot day!  We've been waiting for this day since the Deep Freeze of 2K18...when we thought summer would NEVER get here.  Well, it's here.  And before you go wishing it away...STOP...consider some of these tips to help make the heat a little more bearable.

Follow these simple steps:

  • If available, set up a canopy to provide extra shade...or use an umbrella
  • Drink plenty of fluids.  Hydrate days in advance
  • Wear weather appropriate clothes...avoid dark colors
  • Have a way to cool off your skin: mist yourself with a spray bottle of water
  • Go swimming
  • EAT ICE CREAM
  • Take it easy

As you take the kids out the enjoy the activities for the 4th, watch for heat exhaustion or other heat related illnesses:

  • heavy sweating
  • pale, cool, moist skin
  • fast and weak pulse
  • nausea
  • muscle cramps
  • dizziness
  • weakness
  • headache
  • fatigue
  • fainting
