The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event in the country and with such a huge national celebration come some little white lies. Let’s call them popular legends and rumors. Here are a few:

Washington Redskins quarterback, who is black, was asked after the game, ‘How long have you been a ‘black quarterback’. The rumor is not true. While there were a lot of questions asked about Williams being the FIRST black quarterback in the Big Game, that particular question was never asked.

Every year you hear the sewage systems of major cities have broken due to the amount of toilets being flushed at half time. Nothing has every really happened.

Rumor has it that car crashes increase after the Super Bowl. This one is true. From 1975 to 2001, when a study was done, the first hour after a Super Bowl, car accidents increase by 70%.

Something called the ‘Bell Curve’ says that Jag actress Catherine Bell correctly predicted the winner and the final score of the New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams Super Bowl before the season began. Patriots won 20-17. The so called ‘prediction’ Bell made was actually a ruse by The Sporting News Magazine but the survey for the game was done ‘after’ the game at the beginning of the next season. This one is false.
