Scammers are active throughout the year.  They don't really need an angle to attempt to take the money of the good citizens of our country.  However, that does not mean that they don't look for unique opportunities.

Gifting scams during the Holidays, romance scams around Valentine's Day, and IRS scams in tax season.

Yes, scammers are particularly active between the end of January and the middle of April.

And, whether it is a justified concern or not, there are people in this country who are concerned about having ICE involvement in their lives.  This has caused some people to be more on edge, and therefore more susceptible to scams, than they normally would be.

It has gotten so bad that the Internal Revenue Service has actually posted a series of tips on how to avoid being taken advantage of by scammers.

This year's tax season runs through April 15th.

Hopefully, you won't be contacted by scammers this tax season.  We need to remember that sometimes these scammers are very brazen with their actions. If the contact is in-person, or threatening, it is perfectly fine to call 911.  Your safety is the most important thing.
