It wasn't looking good for the Lost Valley Ski Resort in Auburn. Connie King, co-owner of Lost Valley, told the Lewiston Sun-Journal that 'we didn't think we were going to get to open and we had come to the conclusion that we just weren't going to be able to do it.'

The word of Lost Valley not opening for this season sparked the community to come together. A group called The Friends of Lost Valley sprang into action and has raised $25,000 to keep the ski area from shutting down for good.

This past weekend nearly 100 volunteers spent the day clearing brush and working to get the mountain ready for the upcoming ski season.

From thinking they would have to close down for good to looking forward to the ski season, Lost Valley should be opening by the middle of December.
