Doesn't it feel like the absolute worst time of the year, at least here in New England, is the middle of winter?  From about January 2nd until somewhere around March 7th.  That 60-ish day stretch is the worst!

The joy of the Holidays are behind us, the weather is cold & snowy, and it is way too dark.

Fortunately, we are coming out of it.  Even though we are only in the middle of February, we are starting to see a little bit of daylight just after 6 AM and it does not get completely dark until about 6 AM.

And, we will soon be getting a big boost to daylight.  Yes, I am talking about the return of Daylight Saving Time.

When Do We Set Our Clocks Ahead in 2026?

Officially, we enter Daylight Saving Time at 2 AM on Sunday, March 8th.

Of course, these days, most of us do not need to worry about changing clocks.  Our computers, tablets, phones, and other devices all adjust themselves.

Why Do We Still Do Time Change?

According to the USA Fact website, Daylight Saving Time began in 1918 as a way to conserve fuel during World War I and helped establish U.S. time zones.

It was later repealed, brought back during World War II, and dropped again afterward.

The modern system of changing clocks twice a year started in 1966.

The most recent update came in 2005, extending daylight saving time to run from the second Sunday in March through the first Sunday in November.
